In this mini-lesson, students are introduced to different strategies that bugs use to survive the winter. They learn how some migrate, while others hibernate during the coldest months.
Here are some writing prompts to help students reflect on the mini-lesson. Feel free to copy and paste them into an assignment.
Bonus Activity: Some bugs, like ladybugs, come into people’s homes to stay warm in winter. But not everyone wants bugs in their home. Think like an inventor! Can you invent a place for ladybugs to stay over the winter? What would this place look like? Would it be warm and safe? How many bugs would it hold? Draw your ladybug house invention, with ladybugs in it.
